[SALT LAKE CITY, UT, MARCH 13, 2026] \u2014 <\/span>Pioneer Theatre Company<\/b> (PTC), Utah\u2019s premier professional theatre company in residence at the University of Utah, has announced its 2026\u20132027 lineup, marking the organization\u2019s <\/span>65th Season<\/b> with a slate that blends contemporary premieres, Broadway hits, and a classic American comedy. A final musical title will be announced September 1.<\/span><\/p>

Founded in 1962, Pioneer Theatre Company has grown into one of the region\u2019s leading professional theatres. The landmark 2026\u20132027 season reflects both that legacy and the company\u2019s ongoing evolution as it enters its seventh decade.<\/span><\/p>

\u201cWe\u2019re proud to celebrate PTC\u2019s 65th Season\u2014one that reflects both where theatre is right now and the classics that continue to shape it,\u201d said <\/span>Artistic Director Karen Azenberg.<\/b> \u201cThis year brings the urgent, contemporary perspectives of <\/span>John Proctor Is the Villain<\/span><\/i> and <\/span>Eureka Day<\/span><\/i>, the sharp-edged comedy of <\/span>Mean Girls<\/span><\/i>, and the enduring wit of <\/span>Little Shop of Horrors<\/span><\/i> and <\/span>The Man Who Came to Dinner<\/span><\/i>. Together, these plays and musicals offer humor, insight, and a fresh look at familiar stories. And we\u2019re not done yet\u2014a major title will be announced this fall.\u201d<\/span><\/p>

PTC opens the anniversary season with the Utah Professional Premiere of <\/span>John Proctor Is the Villain<\/i><\/b> by <\/span>Kimberly Belflower<\/b> (<\/span>September 11\u201326, 2026<\/b>, <\/span>Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre<\/b>). A recent Broadway hit, the play follows five teenage girls in a small town as they challenge the narratives they\u2019ve inherited and question who controls the truth. Fierce, funny, and sharply contemporary, the work explores power, perspective, and female friendship with urgency and wit.<\/span><\/p>

From <\/span>October 23\u2013November 7, 2026,<\/b> PTC stages <\/span>Little Shop of Horrors<\/i><\/b> at <\/span>Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre<\/b>, arriving just in time for Halloween. With music by <\/span>Alan Menken<\/b> and lyrics by <\/span>Howard Ashman<\/b>, the cult-favorite musical tells the story of a struggling flower shop clerk who discovers a carnivorous plant with a taste for human blood. Featuring beloved songs such as \u201cSuddenly Seymour\u201d and \u201cSomewhere That\u2019s Green,\u201d this devilishly delightful production remains one of musical theatre\u2019s most enduring crowd-pleasers. <\/span>Little Shop of Horrors<\/span><\/i> will be presented as a co-production with <\/span>Arizona Theatre Company.<\/b><\/p>

PTC\u2019s holiday offering is <\/span>The Man Who Came to Dinner<\/i><\/b> by <\/span>Moss Hart <\/b>and <\/span>George S. Kaufman <\/b>(<\/span>December 4\u201319, 2026<\/b>, <\/span>Meldrum Theatre<\/b>). The fast-paced comedy centers on an acerbic radio personality whose extended stay in a Midwestern home throws the household into comic disarray. A staple of the American canon, the play delivers rapid-fire dialogue and holiday-season charm.<\/span><\/p>

The new year begins with the Utah Professional Premiere of <\/span>Mean Girls<\/i><\/b> (<\/span>January 29\u2013February 13, 2027<\/b>, <\/span>Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre<\/b>). Featuring a book by <\/span>Tina Fey<\/b>, music by <\/span>Jeff Richmond<\/b>, and lyrics by <\/span>Nell Benjamin<\/b>, the Broadway hit musical follows newcomer Cady Heron as she navigates the ruthless social hierarchy of high school. Smart, satirical, and pop-driven, the production brings contemporary edge to the season lineup.<\/span><\/p>

Next is the Utah Premiere of <\/span>Eureka Day<\/i><\/b> by <\/span>Jonathan Spector <\/b>(<\/span>March 12\u201327, 2027<\/b>, <\/span>Meldrum Theatre<\/b>). Winner of the 2025 Tony Award for Best Revival, the satire is set at a progressive Berkeley private school where a mumps outbreak ignites debate over vaccines, personal freedom, and misinformation. The play\u2019s pointed humor and timely subject matter underscore the season\u2019s focus on stories that examine today\u2019s cultural landscape.<\/span><\/p>

The 65th Season will conclude with <\/span>a major musical production at Simmons Pioneer Memorial Theatre from April 30\u2013May 15, 2027<\/b>. <\/span>The title will be revealed September 1, 2026<\/b>, and is positioned as a capstone to the anniversary year. It should be noted that PTC is offering the opportunity to those who subscribe to swap their tickets for this yet-to-be-announced title to another title for the season (once the TBA title is announced).<\/span><\/p>

SEASON TICKETS <\/b>
<\/i><\/b>Season tickets to the 2026\/2027 Pioneer Theatre Company Season will be made available to new and returning subscribers <\/b>beginning Monday, March 16, 2026<\/b>.<\/span> In addition to a <\/span>Full-6 Subscription<\/b>, PTC will offer patrons the chance to <\/span>build their own season subscription<\/b>\u2014allowing for customizable <\/span>Pick-4<\/b> and <\/span>Pick-3<\/b> packages. A tiered discount system will make tickets cheaper based on the volume of tickets purchased. PTC will also continue to offer a special half-price <\/span>Senior Subscription<\/b> (good for a Full-6 package exclusive to Saturday matinee performances). Current Subscribers who renew by <\/span>June 30, 2026<\/span> will be guaranteed their same, legacy seats.<\/span><\/p>

PTC is also pleased to incentivize new and returning Subscribers with special <\/span>Early Bird pricing<\/b>\u2014<\/span>$318 for Main Floor\/Loge (discounted from $336) and $228 for Balcony (discounted from $255)<\/span>. <\/span>Early Bird pricing applies only to Full-6 Subscriptions purchased prior to May 9, 2026.\u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/p>

Continuing from the 25\/26 Season is the <\/span>PTClub <\/b>Membership<\/b>. Exclusive to patrons age 35 or under, PTClub offers membership to patrons for one <\/span>$50 initiation fee <\/span>(per season). That membership gives the PTClub Member access to 50% discounts for all six 2026\/2027 Season productions\u2014plus a <\/span>20% discount o<\/span>n additional tickets for friends and family\u2014as well as access to exclusive Member events throughout the year.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

PTC\u2019s Rush Pass subscriptions (including Gold Rush and Duet Rush offerings) will once again be available, and will also go on sale March 16<\/span>. Patrons who purchase Gold or Duet Rush packages will also receive an added benefit for the 26\/27 Season: the ability to book same-day rush tickets via phone from 11 AM to 4 PM (instead of waiting in the rush line).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>
