Pioneer Theatre Company presents the world premiere of Ten Brave Seconds<\/em>\u00a0<\/i><\/strong>from January 30-February 14, 2026. <\/strong>The production, with music & lyrics by Will Van Dyke<\/strong> and book & lyrics by Jeff Talbott<\/strong>, is described as follows:<\/p>

Mike is having a very big day. He\u2019s been holding onto a secret for awhile, and today his secret is totally coming out. It\u2019s also a big day for the country \u2013 huge decisions are being made all over, and at the center of it is one family teetering on the brink\u00a0of\u2026everything.\u00a0Ten Brave Seconds\u00a0is a bright and vital new musical, infused with infectious pop melodies and rooted in a big-hearted examination of one day in the life of a kid, a family, and a community stepping bravely from the dark unknown into the daylight together.<\/em><\/p>

Reprising their roles from PTC’s Fall 2025 insider reading of Ten Brave Seconds<\/em> are Tony Award Nominee John Cariani* <\/strong>(Broadway’s Fiddler on the Roof;<\/em> Caroline, or Change<\/em>; The Band’s Visit<\/em>) as Mr. G. and Carson Stewart*<\/strong> (Broadway’s The Notebook<\/em>) as Mike. Both actors make their PTC mainstage debuts with this production. <\/p>\n

They are joined by Will Blum*<\/strong> (Broadway’s Beetlejuice<\/em>, Torch Song) <\/em>as Carl;  Luke Kolbe Mannikus*<\/strong> (Broadway’s Matilda<\/em>, Pippin<\/em>) as Tim; Jessica Money*<\/strong> (Spelling Bee<\/em> at Arden Theatre Co., The Color Purple<\/em> at Theatre Horizon) as Gabby; and Heidi Farber<\/strong> (Medea<\/em> at the Salt Lake Greek Theater Festival, Sweeney Todd<\/em> at the Grand) as Becky.<\/p>\n

The ensemble is comprised of Nick Eibler*<\/strong> (Broadway’s The Prom<\/em>); Zachary Daniel Jones*<\/strong> (Broadway’s Gypsy<\/em>, Wicked<\/em>); PTC alum Jalen Michael Jones* <\/strong>(PTC’s The Prom, Bye Bye Birdie <\/em>at The Kennedy Center); Laura Leo Kelly* <\/strong>(West Side Story<\/em> International Tour, Regency Girls<\/em> at The Old Globe); and PTC alum Jordan Cruz<\/strong> (PTC’s Jersey Boys,<\/em> Waitress<\/em>). <\/p>\n

Harrison Timm<\/strong>, a senior in the University of Utah’s Actor Training Program; and <\/span>Sydney Rudel<\/strong> and <\/span>Ella Mei Williamson<\/strong>\u2014both seniors in the U’s Musical Theatre Program\u2014join the production’s ensemble as 2025-2026 Season PTC Interns. Ariana Bagley<\/b> and Kaden Conrad <\/b>will serve as swings.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The Creative Team<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Both Will Van Dyke<\/strong> and Jeff Talbott<\/strong> are alumni of PTC\u2014Van Dyke was the composer of incidental scores for Noises Off, <\/em><\/span>The Lehman Trilogy,<\/span><\/i> Ass, i<\/span><\/i>, and <\/span>The Messenger<\/span><\/i>. Talbott has been featured both onstage (<\/span>The Lehman Trilogy, Oslo, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Doubt<\/span><\/i>, and <\/span>The Odd Couple<\/span><\/i>) and as playwright of the PTC world premieres of <\/span>i<\/span><\/i> and <\/span>The Messenger<\/span><\/i>. Together, they have written the musicals<\/span> fuzzy<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>Imagine Harry<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>Wintersong<\/span><\/i>, <\/span>Seven Broken Hearts<\/span><\/i>, and <\/span>The Circle and the Wheel<\/span><\/i>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Ellie Heyman<\/b>, who helmed the PTC Insider Reading of Ten Brave Seconds<\/i> as well as the recent world premiere of Van Dyke and Talbott\u2019s fuzzy<\/em> at Barrington Stage, directs Ten Brave Seconds<\/em>. Other credits include: (Still) Asking For It<\/em> (The Public Theater); Space Dogs<\/em> (MCC); ThisTree<\/em> (Prototype); Dinner with Georgette<\/em> (New York Theater Workshop, Next Door); Jason Craig & Dave Malloy’s Beardo (Drama Desk Award Nomination; Pipeline Theater) Erin Markey: Boner Killer <\/em>(Under the Radar\/The Public Theater); and Becca Blackwell’s They, Themself and Schmerm<\/em> (Under the Radar\/The Public Theater). <\/p>\n

Reed Luplau<\/strong> serves as Choreographer for Ten Brave Seconds<\/em>. A graduate of the Australian Ballet School, his choreography has been featured in productions including Spring Awakening<\/em> (Skylight), Head Over Heels<\/em> (Australia), A Midsummer Night\u2019s Dream<\/em> (Santa Fe Opera), and events such as PHISH<\/em> at Madison Square Garden and the Macy\u2019s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Additional credits include work for The Australian Ballet, Sydney Dance Company, and West Australian Ballet. <\/p>\n

Patrick Sulken<\/strong> serves as Music Supervisor, having music directed the world premiere of fuzzy<\/em>. Other credits include music direction of Broadway\u2019s Pretty Woman: The Musical<\/em> and Trisha Paytas\u2019 Big Broadway Dream<\/em>; Off-Broadway\u2019s Little Shop of Horrors<\/em>, Teeth<\/em>, and We Are the Tigers<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Rounding out the Creative Team are Scenic Designer James Noone<\/strong> (PTC\/ATC’s Dial M for Murder<\/em>, Broadway’s Sunset Boulevard<\/em>); Costume Designer Brenda Van der Wiel <\/b>(PTC’s Jersey Boys, Sweeney Todd<\/em>); Lighting Designer Jos\u00e9 Santiago <\/strong>(PTC’s Prayer for the French Republic<\/em>, Bonnie & Clyde<\/em>); Sound Designer Aaron Hubbard<\/strong> (PTC’s Dear Evan Hansen<\/em>, Sweeney Todd<\/em>), and Hair & Makeup Designer Kate Casalino<\/strong> (PTC’s Noises Off<\/em>, Beautiful: The Carole King Musical<\/em>). <\/span>James O.
